Bankruptcy Law – Bankruptcy Preparation

bankruptcyTo prepare for bankruptcy, these are the things that you need to do.  You need to take a credit counseling class prior to filing bankruptcy and you need to take a debtor education class after you file bankruptcy.  You can take these classes online or over the telephone.  You will also need to provide your attorney with 6 months’ of pay stubs, 2 years of tax returns, current bank statements and the value of any assets you have including 401k, your home and stock.

If you own a home, you will need to provide your attorney with a copy of the deed, which you can get from the town hall if you don’t have it as well as a copy of the first page and the signature page of the mortgage.
