Family Law – How Does Child Custody Work in Connecticut?

child-separation-fighting-over-custodyThere are two different types of child custody in Connecticut.  There is physical custody and legal custody.  Physical custody means who the children are going to reside with.  Legal custody allows the parties to have access to the medical and education records of the children and be able to participate in the major decisions that involve the children’s lives.

Most people have joint legal custody.  There is also joint physical custody where the parties can share physical custody.
