People always want to know if they are going to be responsible for their spouse’s debts. In Connecticut, the spouse is only responsible for the other spouse’s medical bills. Usually, each spouse is responsible for their own credit card bills and personal loans.
A court may order the other spouse to pay the other spouses personal loans or credit card bills but usually only when the debts were incurred for the entire family.
